Can't hear the audio samples?

The audio samples on this site can be played with RealPlayer and Windows Media. If you click on an audio sample and it does not work, ensure that you have chosen the correct icon for the audio player you have installed on your PC.

To play RealPlayer media files from our site, after installing Real Player it is sometimes necessary to make an adjustment under Tools > Preferences > Content > Media Types > Advanced, under Other Media > Real Time Streaming Protocol (towards the bottom of the scroll window, 6th item down). This is sometimes set to none depending on the configuration options one selects when installing RealPlayer. Tick the box to associate Real-Time Streaming Protocol with RealPlayer. Our RealMedia samples should then stream successfully. If the above-mentioned box is not ticked then your browser will show a "Page cannot be displayed" error.

Product Questions

I have played the audio CD and cannot find more than one or two verses of most songs.
The accompanying free audio CDs have been specifically compiled for the purpose of learning the songs and only contain the first verse and/or chorus of each song.
They are intended only as learning aids for those with little or no knowledge of music notation.

Are the songs in the book in a different key to the songs on the CD? If so where can I find information about transposing to the correct key?
All the songs in the book correspond directly with the key that the songs are played and sung on the audio CD.

Where will I find information to show you how to make the guitar chord shapes suggested in the book?
At the beginning of each book you will find an entire page devoted to chord shapes to help you play all the chords suggested for each song.

I notice that the songs in the book are not listed in the same order as the songs on the CD. If I play the CD and find a song I would like to learn, how do I find that song in the book?
Each book has three Indices. The first gives the Song Title with page number and corresponding CD track number, the second gives the Index by CD track followed by the corresponding page number, and the third is the Index by first line which does not give the CD track number.

How do I know how to pronounce any words written in the Irish Language?
Any song that contains words in the Irish Language or in Irish slang, has notes on phonetic spelling an pronounciation, either above or below the song in question.

I really enjoyed some of the photographs in your book and want to know if they are available on a Stock Photography Site?
All the photographs in the Music Ireland publications are the property of Music Ireland and have been taken specifically for the publications. If there is a particular image that you would really like, contact us and we will forward you a .JPEG file copy by email.
